After agreeing to submit to a DNA sample, two contempt of court sentences vacated against a Davenport man in a Mercer County sex assault case. Judge Peter Church made the ruling Tuesday in Mercer County Circuit Court concerning 33 year old Antonio Cortez Williamson. On Monday, Judge Church rendered the contempt citations following the defendant’s behavior in court, but then removed them after the DNA sample was obtained. Williamson faces three Class X felony counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. The case involves one child under the age of 13, according to Mercer County State’s Attorney Meeghan Lee. The matter was investigated by the New Boston Police Department with assistance from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department. Williamson was arrested in late August and remains in custody at the Mercer County Jail on $250,000 bond. Class X felonies are punishable by 6-to-30 years in prison upon conviction. His next court appearance is January 7.
