Orion and Riverdale each advanced to the Super 16 with wins in sectional semifinal volleyball games on Tuesday.
At the 1A Abingdon-Avon Sectional, Orion (23-15) defeated Brimfield (22-8) 22-25, 25-18, 25-11, to move on to Thursday’s sectional championship. The Chargers will play Tremont (21-17) after the Turks routed ROWVA-Williamsfield (32-7) 25-10, 25-18, in the first semifinal on Tuesday.
At the 2A Riverdale Sectional, Riverdale (24-10-2) dispatched Eureka (31-6) 25-19, 25-8. The Rams will play Peoria Notre Dame (24-12) for the sectional title on Thursday. The Irish rallied to defeat Princeton (21-15) 16-25, 25-16, 25-22.
