Carroll Richard Franks, 88 of Aledo, Illinois, passed away at his home on Monday, November 3, 2025. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday, November 10, at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. The funeral service will directly follow at 12 p.m. Graveside services will be at the Peniel Cemetery in rural Joy, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be left to the First Baptist Church in Aledo. Carroll was born on July 5, 1937, in Aledo, the son of Bennie and Gladys Luxmore Franks. He was a graduate of Aledo High School. He married Frances Cooper on May 18, 1957, in Aledo. They were married for 66 years before her passing on January 14, 2023.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Aledo. Carroll loved collecting toys and making custom toys. He also enjoyed traveling and fishing.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, Randy Franks of Aledo, Curt Franks of Aledo, and Dale (Maria) Franks of Viola; five grandchildren, Richard, RaeAnn, Ben, Bradley, and Janelle; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosalie McCaw of Viola and Mary Dowd of Aledo; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; three brothers, Joseph Franks, Dean Franks, and Gerald Franks; and daughter-in-law, Karole Franks.
