Voters in the New Boston-Eliza Fire Protection District will decide on a proposed ambulance tax aimed at restoring an ambulance service to the district in Tuesday’s primary election.
Voters in the New Boston-Eliza Fire Protection District will be asked if the district shall levy a special tax rate not to exceed 0.40% of the value of all taxable property within the district for the purpose of providing an ambulance service.
The New Boston Volunteer Ambulance Service ceased operations last July due to a lack of staff. The New Boston-Eliza Fire Protection District is currently served by Elite EMS, which is dispatched out of Aledo.

DeFrieze says there are currently 12 people enrolled in an EMT class who have indicated they would help serve in the district if the vote is passed.
Voters in the Keithsburg Fire Protection District will be asked to vote if the district shall levy a special tax rate not to exceed 0.40% of the value of all taxable property within the district for corporate purposes.
Voters in the Rivoli Fire District will be asked if the maximum allowable tax rate should be increased from 0.30% to 0.35% of the value of all taxable property within the district.
