A local congresswoman is thrilled that the U.S. Department of Education may be dismantled.
Per a report from the Illinois Radio Network, U.S. Representative Mary Miller spoke on the House floor last week. She says the department has drained billions of dollars from taxpayers while test scores have declined.
Republicans have introduced legislation to shut down the Department of Education.

Miller’s congressional district includes Aledo and western Mercer County.
