CAMBRIDGE, Ill. — The Henry County Fair is buzzing today with livestock shows, carnival fun, and a hometown concert atmosphere. Farm Country 102.3 WRMJ was on-site Thursday for Military Appreciation Day, honoring veterans and active-duty service members with free gate admittance. The unmistakable aroma of sizzling pork chops—thanks to the Henry County Pork Producers—is the first thing you notice, drawing fairgoers in for a taste of local flavor.
Treasurer Todd Verheecke helped launch the day’s events, shining a light on the packed lineup of livestock shows: Swine, Goats, Sheep, and Beef.
And tonight? The main stage lights up with a live concert featuring Nashville artist David Nail, with a special opening set by local favorite Tyson Schulte.
“Tyson’s a real local favorite,” said Verheecke. “It’ll be awesome to have him here surrounded by family and friends.”
The fair truly feels like a family reunion. Tyler Verbeck shared a touching connection: he and Schulte discovered they’re distantly related—after bonding in the livestock barn years ago.
Meanwhile, 4‑H participant Colton Keyes (at the beef barn with his steer, Vivian) said, “I like showing and hanging out with my friends.”
And what’s a county fair without rides and treats? Kids from Annawan couldn’t get enough of the Zipper and Tornado rides—or deep‑fried Oreos and funnel cakes.
