Mercer County (14-17) opened the 2025 IHSA baseball postseason with a 1-0 walk-off win in eight innings over Monmouth-Roseville (8-22) at Northside Park in Aledo Monday.
Carson Boelens broke a scoreless tie by delivering a two-out bases-loaded RBI single to win the game in the bottom of the eighth inning. Boelens was also the winning pitcher, allowing three hits and striking out 14 batters over eight scoreless innings.
Monmouth-Roseville starting pitcher Landyn Angelo threw 6.1 scoreless innings.
With the win, the Golden Eagles advance to the Class 2A regional semifinals to play Sherrard (17-8) on Wednesday in Monmouth.
