Mercer County Health Department Offers Non-Invasive Colorectal Cancer Tests

Mercer County Health Department is offering an easier way to screen for colorectal cancer. Non-invasive, take-home fecal immune-chemical tests (FIT) are available for individuals who are 40 years and older who are not at an increased risk. FIT is not meant to take the place of a colonoscopy, it is an option for people looking for a comfortable way to screen for colon cancer. Before receiving your kit, a brief questionnaire must be completed to find out if you qualify. The cost of the kit is $20. This includes processing and screening, as well as notification of your results. For more information, contact Mercer County Health Department at 309-582-3759 or stop by the office at 305 NW 7th Street in Aledo. Walk-ins are welcome.
