The Mercer County School District Board of Education voted to accept an invitation to join the Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC) Wednesday.
It was approved on a 4-3 school board vote. Tab Balmer, Jacob Lower, Bill Smock, and Don Yates voted in favor of joining the TRAC. Jason Monson, Lori Nelson, and Julie Wagner voted against joining the TRAC.
Unit 404 Superintendent Scott Petrie recommended the board to accept the invitation. Mercer County High School Principal Andrea Cooper told the board she recommended the district wait to vote.
Both spoke with WRMJ after the invitation was accepted.

The invitation states Mercer County would join the conference starting in the 2024-25 school year.
