Marilyn Zielke, 86 of Aledo, Illinois, left this life to be with her heavenly father on Thursday, March 16, 2023. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 1, at the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth, Illinois. Memorials may be left for the First Baptist Church in Aledo. Marilyn Margaret Ubben was born the daughter of Harold and Viona (Hicken) Ubben on July 5, 1936, in Beatrice, Nebraska. She grew up in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1954. She later attended Black Hawk College in Moline, Illinois, graduating first in her class as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Galesburg Mental Health Center and later at Mercer County Nursing Home.
Marilyn was a member of First Baptist Church in Aledo, and was a commissioner of the Mercer County Housing Authority. She was never happier than when spending time with her family. She also enjoyed playing cards, doing Swedish embroidery, cooking, traveling on short trips, keeping up with the Chicago White Sox, working on crafts, and meeting with high school classmates for lunch.
She is survived by three children, Patricia (C.L.) Murrie of Vienna, Illinois, John (Chris) Zielke of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Valerie (Don) Zook of Aledo; grandchildren, Britni West, Laci Higgins, Shayli Higgins, Spencer (Kinzie) Zielke, Kalie Zielke, Chase Zielke, Jeff Murrie, and Jani Murrie; and great grandchildren, Alayah, Sophia, Jackson, Kamden, Olivia, Lilly, Colton, Lennon, and Joslyn. She is also survived by her special niece, Cherish (Todd) James, and their daughter, Tesa. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ron and Mike.
