A Western Illinois Congressman wants to provide one-time payments to commodity producers across the state.
It’s part of the Farm and Family Relief Act, in which Rep. Eric Sorensen (D-Illinois) joined ranking member Rep. Angie Craig (D-Minnesota) and other members of the House Agriculture Committee to craft.
The bill aims not only to provide one-time payments to row crop commodity producers but also to delay for four years the cost shift of SNAP benefits to states.
Sorensen is in his second term in the House of Representatives. He represents the eastern portion of Mercer County in Congress.
