Local EMR Training Class Approved, Starts Saturday

After an informational meeting in Aledo last week regarding EMT and EMR classes amidst an ambulance shortage, an Emergency Medical Responder training class will be held locally beginning this weekend.

Nearly 50 people attended the informational meeting last week, and 23 signed up, saying they were interested in taking the EMR training.

The state approved a local EMR class that will start on Saturday morning at the Aledo Fire Department, says Aledo Fire Protection District Board of Trustees President Mike Sponsler.

To register, call Sponsler at 309-373-2000.

A local EMT training class is planned to begin in January.

Since the New Boston Volunteer Ambulance Service ended its operation in July, the Aledo, Joy, Seaton, Keithsburg, and New Boston-Eliza Fire Protection Districts have all been covered by one ambulance out of Aledo, dispatched by Elite EMS.
