Dan McGuire has been named Sherrard High School’s next football coach, the school district announced Thursday afternoon.
McGuire has 10 years of varsity head coaching experience at Moline High School. From 1991-2000, he led the Maroons to a 66-32 record and qualified for the playoffs eight times in Class 6A.
He replaces Brandon Johnston, who resigned after four seasons last month. Sherrard went 2-7 in 2024.
McGuire previously worked in the Sherrard School District as a substitute assistant principal from September-November 2024.
The hire is pending board approval at the district’s June 25 meeting.
