The bidding process for the construction of the Aledo Aquatics Center has been completed, and each of the six bids was under the City of Aledo’s budget.
The low bid came from Centennial Construction, which is the company that recently completed the Aledo Central Park Plaza project, for $4,736,500 plus $60 per cubic yard of fill.
The project’s estimated cost is now $6.4 million, down from the original estimate of $7.6 million. The City of Aledo has raised $5.3 million for the project. Those donations are expected to be received over five years.
Aledo Mayor Chris Hagloch says the city is seeking to issue up to $4 million in General Obligation Bonds for the project.
The city intends to look at a 10-year repayment term, but plans to pay the bonds off in five years.
Hagloch said the City is aiming for next month to break ground on the Aquatics Center project with a targeted opening date in May of 2026. It will be constructed at the former Aledo Farmers Grain & Coal site.
