Aledo City Council Terminates LRS Contract, Approves Quick’s Dumpster & Disposal For Waste Collection

The City of Aledo will have a new waste and recycling collection service beginning in May.

At a special meeting that lasted just four minutes on Tuesday, the Aledo City Council voted unanimously to terminate its existing contract with Lakeshore Recycling Services (LRS) and approve an agreement with Quick’s Dumpster and Disposal.

The contract with Quick’s Dumpster and Disposal, based out of Alexis, is a five-year deal that begins on May 1. Weekly garbage and recycling services will cost Aledo residents $18.85 per month, and there will be no rate increase for the entirety of the contract, per the agreement.

Residents will receive a 96-gallon tote for garbage and a 64-gallon tote for recycling in the coming months. There will be a fee of $5 for an extra tote and a fee of $10 for extra debris or appliance pick-up.

Quick’s Dumpster and Disposal Owner Larry Quick says his company is looking forward to servicing Aledo.

The City of Aledo’s contract with LRS will end on April 30. The agreement was scheduled to run through 2028.

At a public hearing earlier this month, Aledo City Administrator Mike Chausse reported that the city had received over 600 complaints from residents about LRS’s service since January 2024.

Aledo Mayor Chris Hagloch explains why the city ultimately chose Quick’s Dumpster and Disposal.

The trash and recycling pick-up days will remain the same in Aledo when Quick’s Dumpster and Disposal takes over on May 1.
