Trial For Viola Man Charged With Felony Sexual Abuse Pushed Back To Next Month

A jury trial for a Viola man facing two felony sexual abuse counts has been pushed back to next month.

33-year-old Gregory Wilson’s trial was originally scheduled for this week but has been rescheduled to June 22-23 after his defense’s motion to continue the case was granted on Thursday in Mercer County Circuit Court. A final pre-trial conference is set for June 1.

Wilson was arrested in September 2024 following an investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department. He’s charged with two Class 2 felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Wilson was originally granted pretrial release with home detention in 2024, but was taken into custody in August 2025 after the prosecution filed a petition to revoke his pretrial release. He’s currently in custody at the Mercer County Jail.
