Matherville Woman Facing Meth Trafficking Charges Released On Home Detention/GPS Tracking

A Matherville woman facing three felony meth-related charges has been placed on home detention with GPS tracking.

40-year-old Ashley Engels appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court on Wednesday for her initial appearance and a detention hearing. Despite Mercer County State’s Attorney Grace Simpson filing a petition to deny Engels’ pretrial release, a Mercer County judge ruled to let her out of custody.

Engels was arrested on Monday and charged with a Class X felony of methamphetamine trafficking, a Class X felony of methamphetamine delivery between 100-400 grams, and a Class X felony of methamphetamine possession between 100-400 grams.

Engels will return to court on May 19.
