Sherrard High School’s boys basketball program is connecting its youth and high school programs with trading cards.
For the second straight year, the Tigers held a “Trading Card Night” on Tuesday, during which the first 200 kids at the game received a pack of cards featuring each varsity player, which were signed by each player after the game.
The idea comes from Joe Veronda, who is a teacher in the Sherrard School District and the father of Sherrard senior guard Ryder Veronda.
Sherrard boys basketball coach Alex Johnson says it’s been a big hit.
Sherrard beat Kewanee 62-43 on Tuesday to improve to 19-6 on the season.
