Illini West buried 11 three-pointers in a 66-60 win over Sherrard at Harry Hunt Gymnasium on Wednesday.
With the game tied 32-32 in the final seconds of the first half, Illini West senior Ethan Carlisle made a deep three-pointer as time expired to put the Chargers (8-3) ahead 35-32 at halftime, sparking a 13-0 run that continued into the third quarter. Illini West scored the first 10 points of the second half to hold a 45-32 advantage midway through the third.
Sherrard (5-2) cut the deficit to three in the third quarter and got within two points in the fourth, but never tied the game or took the lead.
Wesley Robertson scored a game-high 26 points for Illini West. Carlisle added 21. The Chargers made 11 three-pointers in the win after entering the game averaging 5.2 made threes per game.
Nolan Kline and Brylan Bender both scored 14 points in the loss for Sherrard.
