Mercer County and Rockridge both picked up convincing wins in their girls basketball season openers at the ROWVA-Williamsfield/Ridgewood Tournament on Monday.
The Golden Eagles (1-0) crushed Bushnell-Prairie City (0-1) 44-9. Mercer County led the game 29-0 at halftime. Shadia Williams paced the Golden Eagles with 22 points in the win.
The Rockets (1-0) routed Galva (0-1) 47-20. Rockridge held a 31-10 advantage at the half. Leah DeCook poured in 20 points in the victory.
