Ridgewood (17-7) beat Sherrard (17-5) 8-1 in high school softball in Alpha on Wednesday.
Sherrard opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first inning. Ridgewood responded with five runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead for good. The Tigers committed three errors in the first inning and five in the game. The Spartans added three more runs in the second inning.
Mackenzie Peck went 2-3 with three RBI to lead the Spartans at the plate. Courtney Thomas was the winning pitcher. She allowed one run on five hits in seven innings.
