Monmouth-Roseville (23-10) survived a rally from Sherrard (20-6) to end the Tigers’ season and win the 2A Orion Regional championship Thursday 44-41.
With the Titans trailing 41-40 with under a minute to play, Tatianna Talivaa delivered the game-winning basket on a runner with 35 seconds to go. After Sherrard came up empty on the ensuing possession, Brianna Woodard sunk two free throws to extend the lead. Violet Meskan missed a three-pointer at the buzzer for the Tigers.
The Titans avenged two regular season losses to Sherrard with the win.
Talivaa poured in 29 points for Monmouth-Roseville. Woodard added 11.
Adalynn Elsbury paced Sherrard with 20 points. Violet Meskan scored 11 points in the loss.
Monmouth-Roseville advances to the 2A Deer Creek-Mackinaw Sectional to play No. 7 Deer Creek-Mackinaw (30-3) in the semifinals on Tuesday.
