Joann Wolf, 93 of Viola, died Friday, January 17, 2025, at Mercer Manor with her family at her side. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 22, at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, with visitation one hour prior to services. Private family burial will be in Viola Cemetery, Viola, Illinois. Memorials may be made to MercyOne Genesis Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary.
Adrian Joann was born on November 17, 1931, in Rock Island, Illinois, to Clarence and Alberta E. (Young) Stegemann. She married Kenneth Wolf on October 23, 1950, in Iowa City, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1999.
Joann worked for many years with Illinois Bell Telephone Company and Mercer County Livestock. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching her soap operas, crocheting, and reading. Joann’s family time was most important, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her dinners with the grandchildren and her car rides with Meggan and Maci. She was a member of the Viola United Presbyterian Church, where she was Past Elder and Deacon, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #229.
Those left to cherish Joann’s memory include her children, Delores and Tim Reeder of Alexis and Darlene and James Wright of Lowden; a special daughter-in-law, Melissa Horning of New York; siblings, Allen “Buzzy” Stegemann of Moline, IL, and Judy Knudsen of Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Judy Wolf of Florida; grandchildren, Tracy, Erin, Bryan, Meggan, and Michelle; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Emma, Skylar, Tristan, Oaklee, and Maci; and her special friend of many years, Marilyn Spivey. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Tom Wolf; brother, Walter “Buster” Stegemann; and sons-in-law, Greg Peterson and Rick Thirtyacre.
The family would especially like to thank the staff at Mercer Manor and Traditions Health and the ladies at Gerleman Chiropractic for all the care given to Joann.
