Downtown Aledo is preparing for a festive kickoff to the holiday season with its annual Holly Days celebration on Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7. A key highlight this year is the lighting of the downtown Christmas tree, which arrived at the new Central Park parking lot on Monday. The tree will be lit following the Electric Parade Friday night.
Lindsay Dunn is the Executive Director of Aledo Main Street and she shares why this event is such a special tradition for the community.
“City of Aledo does a really grand big Christmas tree lighting that follows the parade and then there’s also trees in the park that you can view. Pictures with Santa will also be available free and we have a local professional photographer who does those photos so those are always kind of a fun keepsake for families. So yeah, just a good opportunity to bring your whole family out and something that everyone can enjoy. It’s just the the spirit of the season that kind of gives everyone a feel good inside moment.”
In addition to the parade and tree lighting, Holly Days features holiday shopping, pop-up vendors, and the Hot Chocolate Hustle 5K on Saturday morning. For more information, visit Aledo Main Street’s website or social media.
The event is just one example of how Aledo Main Street creates memorable experiences for the community, but they need your help to keep these traditions alive.
Dunn encourages everyone to support their efforts by becoming a Friend of Main Street.
“We are always looking for Friends of Main Street, but those are just donations to help continue do the things that we do like holidays and Antiques Day and the events that we would love to pull people into our community. And then also just supporting our local businesses. So everything costs money and we appreciate any donation amount and we would love to become Friends of Main Street with everyone. That’s what keeps everything going and all the fun happening around downtown Aledo.”
Donations help fund community events like Holly Days and Antiques Day while promoting local businesses. To learn more or contribute, contact Aledo Main Street or visit their website.
