Marty James Eggen, 60 of Joy, passed away Friday evening, November 8, 2024, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, November 15, at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. A private graveside service at Peniel Cemetery will be held at a later date. Marty was born on May 17, 1964, in Muscatine, the son of Michael and Judy (Ziegenhorn) Eggen. He graduated from Westmer High School in 1982 and from Black Hawk College East, Kewanee in 1984. He worked for a number of ag-related businesses, last being FS Gold Star.
In 2002, he married Marnie Roman of Atkinson. They later divorced.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Chicago Cubs. Most of all, he loved spending time with his son, Matthew.
Survivors include his son, Matthew Eggen of Atkinson; brother, Mark Eggen of Joy; sister-in-law, Nicole Eggen of Aledo; nieces, Christina (Jeff Schmidt) Eggen and Amber (Brian Gabriel) Eggen and their families; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Chris Eggen.
