Lois I. Frieden, 85, formerly of Keithsburg, Illinois, was surrounded by family when she passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024 at her Aledo home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 15, with visitation one hour prior, at First Christian Church, Keithsburg. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg, followed by a time of food and fellowship at the church. Memorials may be left for Keithsburg First Christian Church or Keithsburg Fire Department. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo, is assisting the family.
Lois Irene, and her twin sister, were born June 6, 1939, in Keithsburg, the daughters of Elmer “Babe” and Edith Gaylor Ferguson. She was a 1957 graduate of Keithsburg High School, where she was a cheerleader for the Keithsburg Blackhawks. Shortly after graduation, she married Ira “Lee” Frick. She later married Bill Frieden in 1983. Lois took great joy in being a farm wife, as well as raising her children. For a few years, she worked as a CNA with Mercer County Home Health Care. In her younger years, she played softball in an area women’s softball league. Lois had a love of fishing, mowing, and tending to her flowers. She loved to do ceramics, as well as quilting…she gifted many of her quilts over the years. Lois enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida. She was a member of Keithsburg First Christian Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Rodney (Cathy) Frick of Seaton, Randy (Kelly) Frick of Alexis, and M. Renee (Russ Bieri) Harfst of Aledo; 14 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren with one more on the way; two great great grandchildren; and siblings, twin sister Louise Whitehall and Dempsey (Nancy) Ferguson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Rory Frick.
