Cheri L. Figg, 64 of Clinton, IA, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Mercy One Hospital with her husband and children by her side. In following Cheri’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the spring. The Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, is assisting the family.

Cheri was born in Aledo, IL, on December 12, 1958, the daughter of James and Barbara (Babcock) Richardson. She attended school in Viola, IL. Cheri married the love of her life, Ronald Figg, on October 15, 1975, in Aledo. She had been a member of the Assembly of God Church over the years. She helped care for her younger brothers and sisters as she was growing up. Cheri had worked as a CNA at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, had done in-home care, and was a foster parent for many years. She always ensured that every child who crossed her threshold was safe, happy, and healthy.

Cheri dedicated her life to taking care of her entire family which included husband, kids, grandkids, siblings, nieces, and nephews. She enjoyed celebrating the holidays and being together with family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She enjoyed spending time with them and loved to make them laugh. She always found the time to talk with her grandkids, especially if they were struggling with a problem. The grandkids loved her sweet tooth! She also loved to share her secret stash of cookies and chocolate with them when they would come over. She instilled the love of animals, laughter, love for each other, and the importance of family to all she knew. Cheri loved Camp Courageous and traveling to visit family and you would never catch her without a diet Coke in hand.

Cheri is survived by her husband, Ron; six children, a daughter Misti Wilkening, fiancé Sean Varner of Camanche, and sons, Ron (Amber) Figg, Jr., of Sioux Falls, SD, and Stephen Figg, fiancé Jessica, Terry (Kristen) Figg, Nick Figg, and Matt Figg, all of Clinton; ten grandchildren, Kyrstin, Ryne, Kade, Collin, Lucas, Jacob, Gage, Ariya, Reveille, and Eli, and two on the way; a brother, Mark (Terri) Richardson of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Kathy Richardson of Viola; two sisters, Connie Clayton of Aledo and Kim (Jeff) Christianson of Sioux Falls; and several beloved nieces and nephews she would do anything for as well as many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James (Jimmy), Jr.; and a nephew, Blaine.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to her husband Ronald Figg, Sr., or sent via venmo to her daughter @misti-wilkening or son @ron-figg to be used to cover Cheri’s final wishes.
