A Davenport man’s motion to reconsider sentence has been denied in a Mercer County sex assault case. The ruling was handed down Wednesday concerning 37-year-old Antonio Cortez Williamson. He received a 45-year term in the Illinois Department of Corrections last July after he was found guilty of three Class X felony counts in an April of 2022 bench trial in Mercer County Circuit Court.
Williamson received a 15-year sentence for each count, to be served consecutively.
He was arrested in August of 2019 following an investigation by the New Boston Police Department with assistance from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department.
The case involved one child under the age of 13. Williamson is in custody at the Menard Correctional Center. His attorney has indicated an appeal will be filed.
