A first appearance has been set for Aledo Police Chief and City Administrator Chris Sullivan. He is scheduled to be in Mercer County Circuit Court on Oct. 4 to face Class 4 felony official misconduct and Class A misdemeanor battery charges. The charges follow an Illinois State Police investigation and involve the allegation of a battery having been reportedly committed by Sullivan, in his capacity as Aledo Police Chief while conducting an arrest. He posted ten percent of his $10,000 bond shortly after his arrest earlier this week. Sullivan has been placed on paid leave by the city. The Aledo City Council meets in regular session next Tuesday.
