Shirley ‘Jean’ Ristau – Services 9/10/22

Shirley “Jean” Ristau, 93 of Galesburg, IL, formerly of New Windsor, IL, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022 at home. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, September 9, at Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Alpha. Additional visitation will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, until the time of services at noon, Saturday, September 10, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Moline. Burial is 3:30 p.m., Saturday, September 10, in the Hopewell Cemetery, New Windsor. Memorials may be left to the Hopewell Cemetery or Holy Cross Lutheran Church and online condolences can be made at www.petersonwallinknox.com.

Jean was born March 16, 1929 in New Windsor, to Leman and Celia Kasenberg McMullen. She attended the Fairview schools, and graduated from Viola High School and Monmouth College in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree. On January 30, 1955, she was united in marriage to Richard W. Ristau in Viola, IL.

Jean was a librarian at the New Windsor Public Library for many years.

Her memberships include Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Mercer County Farm Bureau, and the Prime Timers. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, and being with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Dick; two daughters, Michele (Duane) Jenkins of Tebbetts, MO, and Terri (Mark) Wilson of Rio; three grandsons, Jason (Allison) Jenkins of Tebbetts, Shane (Jennifer) Jenkins of Tualatin, OR, and Ian (Emera) Wilson of Marquette, MI; five great grandchildren, Aidan, Ashlyn, Paige, Carly, and Alex; special granddaughter, Nicole Jenkins of Holts Summit, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lola Harrison; and one niece, Gloria Hoffman.
