There were no serious injuries following a car/school bus accident. The crash occurred Friday morning along Illinois 164, east of Oquawka. The West Central school bus was carrying 37 students.
According to a Henderson County Sheriff’s Department press release, 42-year-old Michael R. Russell of Oquawka was driving a 2007 Buick Park Avenue west bound on IL Rt. 164, losing control of his vehicle and striking the rear passenger side tire of the bus. Both vehicles sustained major damages.
There were no injuries reported and all of the students on the school bus were evaluated by EMS crews. Russell was issued two citations, one for Improper Lane Usage and the second citation was for No Insurance on a Motor Vehicle.
Assisting agencies were the Oquawka Ambulance Service, the Biggsville Ambulance Service, the Stronghurst Ambulance Service, the Burlington Fire Department Ambulance, the Oquawka Fire Department, the Gladstone Fire Department, and Berg’s Towing.
