Mercer County, Sherrard and Ridgewood failed to pick up a victory at Play the Turf in Jacksonville on Saturday. Mercer County’s softball team lost their opener to Dunlap 19-6 and then followed it up with a 14-2 loss to Newark.
In baseball, Sherrard lost their opener on Friday to Brimfield 9-5 on Friday night and followed that up with a 9-0 loss to Yorkville Christian and falling to Hoopeston-East Lynn 14-4. Ridgewood lost a pair on Saturday, losing to Newark 11-4 and Ottawa Marquette 10-0.
The Sherrard Tiger 8th grade volleyball team took fourth place at the IESA State Finals on Saturday. The Tigers lost to Shelbyville in the semi-finals 25-10, 25-16 and to Quincy St. Peter’s in the third place match 25-16, 25-20.
