Mercer County State’s Attorney Grace Simpson has released her office’s 2021 stats. The data shows resolving over 200 cases, including 50 plus felonies. From those felony convictions ten resulted in a Department of Corrections sentences. Those prison sentences involved cases such as possession of a controlled substance, deceptive practices, child pornography, burglary, possession of a firearm, failure to register as a sex offender and aggravated stalking. The most extensive punishment resulted in a 12-year stint in the DOC. In the remaining cases, including misdemeanor and traffic cases, 64 individuals were sentenced to a term of probation or conditional discharge. Her office was also able to hold one bench trial in 2021 as well as one jury trial resulting in a guilty verdict for burglary.
Simpson was sworn in as Mercer County State’s Attorney in December 2020.
