East Moline Cop And Former Aledo Resident Arrested In Child Porn & Sex Assault Investigation

Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Agents arrested an East Moline Police Officer, Kirk DeGreve, 47 years of age, on Thursday, Jan. 23, at approximately 11:05 a.m. on two felony counts of criminal sexual assault and two felony counts of possession of child pornography.
In August 2019, then East Moline Police Department Chief John Reynolds contacted the ISP requesting an independent criminal investigation of a suspected inappropriate relationship between East Moline Police School Resource Officer DeGreve and a United Township High School student. The case was assigned to ISP investigators outside the Quad City area to avoid any perception of conflict of interest. Officer DeGreve was immediately removed from the school and reassigned to patrol duties during the investigation.

On Jan. 16, after numerous search warrant executions and interviews, investigators recovered evidence of suspected criminal conduct. Current East Moline Police Department Chief Jeff Ramsey was informed of the new information and placed Officer DeGreve on administrative leave.

On Jan. 23, ISP DCI Agents took DeGreve into custody in Springfield, Illinois, without incident, and lodged him at the Sangamon County Jail on $150,000 (10%) bond. The Rock Island County State’s Attorney has requested Carroll County State’s Attorney Scott Brinkmeier, serve as the special prosecutor for this case.

Anyone with information is asked to call the ISP at 815-632-4010 at extension 230. Anonymous information can be provided to Quad City Crime Stoppers at 309-762-9500 or online at P3Tips.com
