A retired local state lawmaker reflecting on his quarter century career in Springfield.  Don Moffitt represented Mercer County in the statehouse for 24 years. He remembers legislation he introduced on behalf of the Joy Fire Department.

It was also work by Moffitt that led to a fire truck program for rural departments.

Moffitt is back working on the family farm in Knox County.  He finished his professional career in 2017—retiring after a one year stint serving as assistant director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
