New Boston Man Avoids Prison Time In Meth Case

A New Boston man placed on two-and-a-half years’ probation and sentenced to 180 days in the Mercer County Jail after pleading guilty to a Class 3 felony meth charge. 44 year old Travis Shoemaker’s fines and assessments will total $5,000—the amount of bond he posted.  He was arrested last May and was also facing a Class X felony of armed violence. Shoemaker is due to report to the Mercer County Jail Tuesday. Mercer County State’s Attorney Meeghan Lee was seeking a five year prison term, but Judge Richard Zimmer settled for the probation and jail sentence.
