Kendra Lewis threw a no-hitter and hit a three-run home run in her final at-bat at Rockridge Saturday to lead the Rockets (32-4-1) to a third place finish in Class 2A softball. Rockridge beat Auburn, 4-0, at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in Peoria in the IHSA 3rd Place Game.
Lewis (23-4) struck out seven and walked three batters over seven hitless innings. Her three-run homer came in the bottom of the sixth to extend the Rockridge lead to 4-0. The Rockets got on the board with a Charley Perkins sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third.
The Rockridge softball program earned its ninth state trophy in program history with the third place finish. Over the last four seasons, the Rockets went 134-5-1 and won three state championships.
