Camp Point Central (13-0) is returning to the IHSA 1A state football championship game for the second consecutive year, after defeating Greenfield-Northwestern (12-1) in the semifinals Saturday, 54-20.
The Panthers will play Lena-Winslow (13-0), who are looking for its fourth straight state title. Lena-Winslow beat Camp Point Central in last year’s state championship game, 30-8. This year’s game kicks off at 10 a.m., Friday at Hancock Stadium in Bloomington-Normal.
Camp Point Central head coach Brad Dixon says his team will need to execute better than last year against Lena-Winslow.
This is Dixon’s third trip to the state championship game. Camp Point Central was the Class 1A runner-up in 2018, too.
Dixon is a 2002 graduate of Westmer High School.
