Mercer County (5-3, 4-2 LLC Big) is headed back to the playoffs after a 24-16 win over Macomb (3-5, 3-4 LLC Big) at George Pratt Memorial Field Friday. Colby Cox carried the ball 27 times for 155 yards and a touchdown. He was 6-12 passing for 69 yards with a touchdown through the air as well. The Golden Eagles wrap up the regular season at West Hancock (1-7, 1-5 LLC Big) in Week 9.
Rockridge (7-1, 5-0 TRAC West) moved its win streak to seven by defeating Hall (3-5, 1-3 TRAC East) 35-0 Friday. Connor Deem scored two touchdowns for the Rockets. Rockridge can win the TRAC West outright for the second straight year with a win over Erie-Prophetstown at home in Week 9.
Sherrard (3-5, 2-3 TRAC West) saw its playoff hopes dashed with a 19-7 loss to Erie-Prophetstown (3-5, 3-2 TRAC West) Friday. The Panthers controlled the time of possession by holding on to the ball for 31:33. Erie-Prophetstown quarterback Jeremiah Kochevar carried the ball 21 times for 122 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Sherrard hosts Monmouth-Roseville (4-4, 3-2 TRAC West) in Week 9.
Orion (2-6, 0-5 TRAC West) has now lost six games in a row after falling to Monmouth-Roseville 49-35 Friday. Payton Thompson led the Titans with 14 carries for 248 yards and three touchdowns. The Chargers finish 2023 at home against Riverdale (0-8, 0-5 TRAC West) in Week 9.
