Volunteers are wanted to help set up American flags for the funeral of Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy Nicholas Weist. People around the area are being asked to support an effort called “The Flagman’s Mission Continues.” The founder of the mission, Larry Eckhardt of Little York, died in March of 2020. Jeff Hastings is President of the mission. He explains what it means to him.
Flags will be set up Saturday morning. Volunteers are asked to meet at 9:15 a.m. at Galesburg High School. The flags will be taken down at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
