After more than a quarter-century leading the Sherrard High School girls track and field program, head coach Todd Volkert has been inducted into the Illinois Track and Cross Country Coaches Association (ITCCCA) Hall of Fame.
Volkert was officially inducted in January after it was announced he would be in the 2026 Hall of Fame class in November 2025.
During his tenure, Volkert has led the Sherrard girls track and field program to the 2007 1A state championship, eight team top-10 finishes at state, 16 sectional championships and 18 conference championships. He’s coached 219 individual state qualifiers, 81 state medalists and four individual state champions.
Volkert joined Sportsline on Saturday and reflected on the honor.
Volkert is a two-time ITCCCA Coach of the Year.
