A local tourism organization will be receiving $225,000 after being awarded a grant last week.
Visit MerCo was awarded the Compeer Rural Collaboration grant last Tuesday, which gives the organization $150,000 in funding over three years. In addition to the grant, the Moline Regional Community Foundation committed an additional $75,000 to Visit MerCo.
The funding will help support Visit MerCo’s Community Mosaic Initiative, which is focused on community and economic development in the west end of Mercer County.
Visit MerCo’s Kasi Henshaw says the funding is a big boost for the organization.
Visit MerCo says it plans to work on business planning and development on the riverfront in Keithsburg and New Boston as part of the grant.
