A preliminary hearing has been set for later this month in the drunk driving case against Mercer County School District superintendent Scott Petrie, but it remains unclear what his employment status is with Unit 404. The Mercer County School Board met in emergency session on Monday, but no action was taken per Unit 404 board president Julie Wagner. She tells WRMJ “We are extremely limited in what we can say. Other than that we have no further comment.”
Petrie was arrested during a traffic stop Saturday in Eldridge Iowa and was cited for OWI first offense, no registration, no insurance and failure to yield—all misdemeanor offenses in Iowa. Petrie posted $1,000 bond Sunday. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 30th in Scott County District Court.
