Twyla J. Holmes, 81 of Aledo, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa. Cremation rites will be accorded. Celebration of Life will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, October 20, with eulogy to follow at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. Twyla Jean was born November 23, 1942, to Warren and Phyllis Morrow in Aledo, the only daughter of their four children. She graduated from Joy High School, Class of 1960. She married her high school sweetheart, Jim Holmes, June 21, 1960, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death May 28, 2024. Her greatest joy in life was being Mom to her five children, Grandma to 11 grandchildren, and Great Grandma to eight great grandchildren and one lovingly expected.
She worked for several years at a local car dealership as an office manager and bookkeeper. She enjoyed playing at their family timber, genealogy, reading, playing cards, and all things to do with her family.
Those left to cherish Twyla’s memory include her sons, Jeff (Ann) Holmes of Muscatine, Iowa, and Delane (Misty) Holmes of Aledo; daughters, Barb (Ray) Olson of Aledo, Brenda (Pat) Partlow of Aledo, and Vicki (Hector) Correa of Roselle, Illinois; grandchildren, Jacki Holmes, Leslie (Jon) Koller, Barry Olson, Tiffany (Adam) Baker, Bailey (Robbie) Rice, Logan (Garrett) Boelkes, McKayla (Grant) Putnam, Teague (Montgomery) Smith, Payton (Aleeka) Holmes, Lexi (Mike) Cieniawa, and Sydney Correa; great grandchildren; brother, Gail (Linda) Morrow of Joy, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and in-laws, Victor and Willodean Holmes; along with her brothers, Jim and John.
