A New Windsor man charged with attempted murder will return to court next month.
44-year-old Michael Licht had his initial appearance in Mercer County Circuit Court on Tuesday, where a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Sept. 2.
Licht was arrested on Aug. 13 when the Mercer Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call at a residence in New Windsor. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Department, deputies found Licht covered in blood with multiple lacerations on their way to the scene. Then, upon arriving at the scene, they located a woman with a laceration.
Licht is charged with a Class X felony of attempted first-degree murder, a Class 3 felony of aggravated battery/great bodily harm, and a Class A misdemeanor of battery.
Licht remains in custody at the Mercer County Jail.
