The second and final weekend of firearm deer hunting begins Thursday morning in Illinois. The harvest was down a bit statewide during the first weekend, but on the plus side, hunters stayed safe says Illinois Conservation Police Captain Laura Petreikis.
Mercer County hunters bagged 532 deer during the first weekend Nov. 20-22. Last year during the second weekend, they harvested 267 deer.
