Rockridge boys basketball coach Andy Saey has been named the next head coach for the United Township Panthers, according to WQAD’S Matt Randazzo.

Saey took over the Rockets’ varsity program in 2017 after serving as an assistant coach for former head coach Toby Whiteman. Saey went 121-40 in six seasons at Rockridge, including back-to-back trips to the IHSA State Finals in 2021-22 and 2022-23. His first varsity coaching job came in a one-year stint at Galva in 2013-14.

The hire needs to be approved by the United Township Board of Education, which next meets Monday, April 17.

Former UT head coach Ryan Webber resigned last month after eight seasons leading the Panthers. He went 144-75 during his time at UT. Webber was named the varsity girls basketball coach at Bettendorf High School earlier this week.
