A death investigation in rural Sherrard results in murder charges being filed against two individuals. 41-year-old William DeWitt of Milan and 52-year-old Susan McFalls of Colona were taken into custody Tuesday following an investigation that began last December. According to a Mercer County Sheriff’s Department press release, DeWitt is charged with 1st Degree Murder and Drug Induced Homicide and McFalls is charged with 1st Degree Murder (accountability) and Drug Induced Homicide (accountability).
The victim is identified as Anthony Qualls of rural Sherrard. He was pronounced dead by Mercer County Coroner Greg Larson last Dec. 22.
Numerous agencies have been involved in the investigation with the Mercer County Sheriff’s office, including Illinois State Police, Mercer County Coroner’s Office, Aledo Police, Moline Police, Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office, Galesburg Police, Quad City MEG, and Colona Police.
