Rockridge Rallies From Early 4-Run Deficit To Beat Mercer County

Rockridge scored eight of the game’s final nine runs to come from behind and beat Mercer County 8-5 in softball at home on Thursday.

With the Rockets (12-2, 3-1 TRAC West) trailing 5-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Kayley Schlapkohl tied the game with a two-out, two-RBI double. Charley Perkins followed that up with a go-ahead RBI single. Rockridge led for the remainder of the game.

Madelyn David and Baylee Kelly also drove in two runs for the Rockets.

Natalie Thomson led off the game with a home run for Mercer County (5-6, 1-3 TRAC West). The Golden Eagles added three runs in the top of the second inning to take an early 4-0 lead.

Kelsie Weeks added three hits in the loss.

Tatum Lowe picked up the win in the pitcher’s circle in relief. She allowed two runs on eight hits in six innings. Lowe struck out nine batters in the win.

Alivia Gillespie took the loss for Mercer County, allowing six runs (three earned) in four innings.
