Rockridge Celebrates Centralized Elementary School Groundbreaking

The Rockridge School District officially broke ground on the construction of its new elementary school on Thursday.

Voters in the Rockridge School District overwhelmingly approved the project to build a centralized elementary school last November, which will be located just south of the existing Junior/Senior High School in Edgington. It will house the district’s pre-K through fifth-grade students.

Rockridge School District Superintendent Marcus Bush spoke with WRMJ at the event Thursday.

Bush says the district is planning for the new elementary school to open in the 2027-28 school year.

Rockridge currently has elementary school locations in Andalusia, Illinois City and Taylor Ridge.

The project will also add air conditioning in the Junior/Senior High School.
